Gebrüder Nippes since 1923

EVERY TRADITION HAS ITS ORIGINS

Germany in 1923. The population was already suffering from massive inflation for the eighth consecutive year. Anyone starting a business during these difficult times needed a great deal of courage. The brothers Ernst and Friedrich Nippes demonstrated this courage with their steel goods manufacturing business in Solingen. The brothers started their operation in a “Kotten” in Widdert—the grinding workshops typical of the Bergisches Land region at the time—and from day one placed the utmost importance on Solingen quality: the traditional craftsmanship that remains the hallmark of Solingen steel goods to this day. Gebrüder Nippes GmbH & Co. KG stands as a “manufacturer of fine steel goods,” producing high-quality manicure and pedicure instruments. The highest quality, for a lifetime.

FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION

Tradition runs in the family, which is why the company is now run by Markus Nippes, the third generation of the family. In 2002, he took over the company from his father, Horst Nippes, who had been the face and heart of the company for around 50 years. It was also Horst Nippes who drove the expansion into foreign markets, thereby placing the business on a broader footing. His son Markus is now consistently continuing along this path, and the company exports its products to around 50 countries worldwide—with the trend on the rise. Gebrüder Nippes GmbH & Co. KG generates approximately 60 percent of its revenue—primarily from high-end manicure and pedicure instruments—abroad. To maintain this high standard of quality, manufacturing abroad is out of the question. The company’s in-house production facility in Solingen ensures daily shipments, extremely short delivery times, and thus optimal service for customers.

ALWAYS WITH THE CUSTOMER IN MIND

Who buys Nippes products? The company supplies about half of the roughly 17,000 pharmacies in Germany, making them its main customer base. In addition, distribution partnerships with foreign pharmaceutical companies ensure a steadily growing presence in key international markets. Regular appearances at all relevant industry trade shows further strengthen the business both domestically and abroad. For some time now, Nippes has been producing not only under its own brand name but also for distribution partners who sell high-quality Nippes products under private labels.

TRADITION AND CRAFTSMANSHIP GUARANTEE QUALITY

Traditional craftsmanship, high-quality materials, and meticulous final inspections are essential aspects of production at this Solingen-based family business. Whether it’s scissors, nail clippers, skin nippers, or tweezers—Nippes uses only hot-forged and hardened steel to ensure that customers can enjoy their products for years to come. The reward for this dedication is an ISO 9001 certification for a comprehensive quality management system. However, the company does not wish to rest on its laurels with its classic and proven products; instead, it consistently sets trends through innovation, thereby solidifying Nippes’ success.
